Expecting their first child, Clark Ewald and his wife, Summer, take a remote shortcut through the Nevada desert on their way to visit her parents. Along the empty highway, they encounter a mysterious cowboy whose silent presence leaves an uneasy impression. After spending the night at a roadside motel, their journey takes a terrifying turn when a car accident strands them miles from civilization. Hoping to find help, they walk to the nearest town—only to discover an abandoned ghost town where the enigmatic stranger suddenly reappears, introducing himself as Joseph, and revealing that their nightmare has only just begun.
