In a flashback from a 'Rebecca'-style beginning, Ellen Foster arrives at her aunt’s secluded home on the California coast and encounters her mysterious neighbor, Jeff Cohalan, who lives in a sleek, ultramodern house perched on a cliff. Despite the eerie, oppressive atmosphere surrounding Jeff—marked by a series of strange, unexplained accidents—Ellen is irresistibly drawn to him. As she becomes entangled in his world, she is warned that Jeff could be a threat, yet she begins to fear that he may be the one in danger, with ominous forces closing in around him.
